Manchester United face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final at Old Trafford on Saturday.
A 3-1 win over Arsenal at the weekend is the only result of the last 16 games, but United’s victory over Arsenal is the closest they have come to victory in a cup semi-finals.
The FA Cup tie is also the only tie they have beaten at the Etihad Stadium since the return of Louis van Gaal, who took charge in October, and the club’s record for the number of points in a season in the cup was eight, so United are on course for a fifth successive FA Cup win.
However, they are without two of their most important players, Robin van Persie and Phil Jones, both sidelined with injuries, and they will be without goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who has a hamstring injury.
Palace have won all four of their FA Cup matches this season, and were only denied a draw in their previous encounter with United in October.
Their form in the competition has been impressive, as they have won four of the past five, including the final against United last season.
In the last four years, Manchester United have won just once in their last six matches in the second round, and have not won in their past seven away matches at Old Street.
United, who have lost just twice in their five FA Cup games this season (and only twice in the last 10) face a tough task, with Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester Spurs and Arsenal all battling for the Premier League title.
