A new school in Lincoln, Nebraska, is offering an alternative to traditional public schools.
K-5 Learning Academy offers online learning, which combines online learning and the classroom.
K5 Learning’s online education is called K5, a combination of K-3 and K-4 learning.
Kittel, a former teacher, opened the school in 2017.
The school has over 1,000 students in Lincoln and neighboring communities, and its mission is to provide access to quality, quality learning that can help students succeed in the 21st century.
Kitty, a kindergarten teacher, says the online learning is designed to give students the tools to make smart decisions, but also to keep them focused.
She says students who use the online tools have a clear understanding of what’s going on and are able to get feedback from each other.
“They’re learning from their peers,” Kitty said.
“They’re having fun and having fun learning together.”
The online learning at K5 Learning is not available for every student.
The website is available only for students who are enrolled in the K-6 and K5 programs.
K5 is a nonprofit organization that provides quality instruction for children at high-needs schools and has offices in Lincoln.
The online education has also been used by Lincoln Public Schools students, K5 students, and local educators.
Kitten says the students at K-7 Lincoln are also receiving the online education.
“I think it’s really been a huge success for the school,” Kitty explained.
“I think the students have really embraced it and they’re really learning.”
The K-9 Lincoln school is also offering online learning.
But Kitty says that school doesn’t have the same type of impact on students as K-8 Lincoln.
“The students are more aware of the curriculum, and they understand the content,” she said.
“That’s the thing that makes it really interesting is that you get these students who were previously underrepresented in schools, and you start to give them the opportunity to get into schools and make connections with other students.”
Kitten adds that students can choose to use the K5 online learning to pursue their passions.
“We’re really excited about what the kids can do with it,” she explained.
