NEW JERSEY, N.J. — Quorum Education, a nonprofit organization focused on the advancement of science education, has secured a $400 million loan to begin renovations and expansion of its Quorum Educational Learning Center.
The Quorum educational center, located at the Quorum Discovery Center in downtown New Jersey, will be the company’s largest expansion project to date.
The center is expected to include a new auditorium, new classrooms and classrooms of a new type that will be built on a more traditional floor.
The $400m loan, approved by the state Education Department on Wednesday, will help Quorum with its ongoing transition from its former space in New York to a more urban location in Newark.
Quorum has been under construction since 2013.
Quorum also has campuses in Washington, D.C., and in San Francisco.
The company, which is owned by the Gates family, has a mission to teach the world to live, work and play by developing technologies that help students and educators achieve the best outcomes.
In addition to its Quiverfull and Christian education programs, Quorum teaches a variety of subjects including business and health care management.
